BACKGROUND

Rush Nigut practices primarily in business and corporate law in West Des Moines, Iowa. He is an experienced advisor to business executives.  He advises businesses in a wide-range of industries including technology and communications companies, franchise operations, banking and financial institutions, contractors and manufacturers.  His combination of trial and business transactional experience over the past 15 years allows him to provide practical and effective business solutions for today's corporate and entrepreneurial clients.

  • Representation of international insurer with national counsel from New York in complex multi-million dollar insurance coverage dispute involving former manufactured gas plants located in Iowa.

Rush is a shareholder in the law firm of Brick Gentry, P.C.   Brick Gentry, P.C. has served clients in the Des Moines legal community for over 40 years. The firm serves businesses, municipalities and individuals throughout Iowa.  

AWARDS & RECOGNITION

Rush has received a Martindale-Hubbell AV® Certification Mark from his peers.  According to Martindale-Hubbell, the AV® certification is a significant rating accomplishment - a testament to the fact that a lawyer's peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence. 

The Des Moines Business Record named Rush to the 2006 class of Des Moines' Forty Under 40 community leaders. He is also a 2000 graduate of the Des Moines Leadership Institute.

CIVIC AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Rush is active as a coach in the Raccoon Valley Little League and is also a member of the Board of Directors for The Rooftop Foundation, a local non-profit organization dedicated to helping children of low-income families in the Des Moines area.

Rush is a member of the Iowa State Bar Association (former member Technology committee), Polk County Bar Association and the American Bar Association.  He is also a member of the ABA Forum on Franchising. 

EDUCATION

Rush graduated from Drake University Law School in 1994 and Simpson College in 1991 with a degree in Business Management where he is a member of the Epsilon Sigma Honor Society.

Rush started his blog, Rush on Business, in March of 2006 and has been quoted or referenced by hundreds of other legal and business blogs and Web sites including the blog networks for the Wall St. Journal (www.wsj.com), Forbes Magazine (www.forbes.com) and Entrepreneur Magazine (www.entrepreneur.com).  In 2008, Rush on Business received awards for the Best Business Blog and Best Resource Blog in the Iowa Web Awards.
